Access to Menstrual Health Resources: A Basic Right, Not a Privilege
We organize programs in schools and communities to promote good menstrual practices. Menstruation is a natural part of life, but for many girls and women, it’s a monthly struggle. Lack of access to safe and hygienic menstrual health resources forces them to use unhygienic materials, leading to health issues, stigma, and missed opportunities.
The Reality
- 1 in 5 girls in developing countries lack access to sanitary products.
- 40% of girls in rural areas use unhygienic materials like cloth, rags, or paper.
- Menstrual health-related infections and diseases are a leading cause of absenteeism and dropout among girls.
Breaking Down Barriers
At Ladies Lead Foundation, we believe that access to safe and hygienic menstrual health resources is a basic right, not a privilege. We’re working to:
- Provide sanitary towels and hygiene products to girls in need.
- Install sanitary pad dispensers and incinerators in schools and communities.
- Educate girls and women on menstrual health and hygiene practices.
Empowering Girls, Building Communities
By providing access to safe and hygienic menstrual health resources, we can:
- Improve girls’ attendance, academic performance, and overall well-being.
- Enhance their self-esteem, confidence, and social participation.
- Support their growth into healthy, informed, and empowered women.
